Rely on My Experience

Although my Bachelor’s Degree is in business, I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl. In fact, my college graduation gift was a programmable sewing machine. When I lived in Washington, DC, I formalized my education through classes at G-Street Fabrics. If you know anything about G-Street, you know the extensive training opportunities they offer from teachers who have written instructional books and have contributed to such industry publications as Threads Magazine and Sew News. I also have a Sewing & Dressmaking diploma from Stratford Career Institute and have taken pattern-making classes through Furman University’s extension program.

As for pottery, I took my first hand-building classes in college and I’ve been addicted ever since. In the years since college, I’ve taken several pottery classes at local museums and community centers, but I refined my skills at the Art League in Washington, DC. The Art League is a creative Mecca that hosts art lessons of all kinds. Everything from pottery, painting, and photography is taught by professional artists. My favorite instructor, Bill Van Gilder, has his own show on the DIY Network and has published several books. Upon moving to Greenville, SC and buying a house, my husband bought me my own kiln. The possibilities seem endless now!
